By "works like a teleprompter", do you mean 'scrolls automatically at a controllable speed' or 'flips from frame to frame on command' or 'can be scrolled continuously by the operator (with no breaks in the text).
I don't think the first can be done easily (if at all) in Pages.
The second is the default pattern for Keynote.
The third can be accomplished in pretty much any text editor, or in Numbers, using a fixed width text box tall enough to hold the full text of the presentation (whether script or notes).
Text editors and text boxes in Numbers do not divide the text into 'pages', so continuous scroll without page breaks is just a matter of strokes on a track pad or magic mouse, or turning a scroll wheel on a mouse equipped with one.

" One menu option, continuous scroll, no light margins. simple scroll dot and no page breaks. "
√ continuous scroll
√ simple scroll dot (one finger scroll on track pad)
√ no page breaks (Numbers defines "pages" only when printing or preparing to print.)
No claims of perfection.

No. That seems to be exclusively for the iOS version.

Similar to this (without the lighter margins):
When scrolled down a few rows, using trackpad:
Done using Numbers, as described above.

Powerpoint and Macbooks: How to use mirrored Presenter View in a 3 screen setup
Mac + Powerpoint
Using Powerpoint Presenter View for speakers on Corporate Events
When a presenter shows their Powerpoint-presentation from a stage or a studio, they usually want to see the presenter-view while they are talking. Here they can see their slides and presenter-notes.
The presenter-view in Powerpoint for mac.
In corporate events, there are two ways to play the presentation. For smaller events, the presenter can bring their own laptop to the stage and use this to play the presentation. By plugging the laptop straight to the projector, the presenter can see the presenter-view on the internal display, and the actual presentation is shown on the external display.
But for bigger events, the A/V team wants more control of the presentation-computer, so the presentation needs to be played from a computer placed at the Front of House. From there it can feed the projector, the streaming-device, and send the presenter-view to a separate monitor on the stage.
In order to display Presenter View on a separate display using laptops, you normally want to mirror your internal display with the stage monitor. Then both monitors will show the presenter view, and the external display will show the full presentation.
Screen setup when using a laptop placed at FOH to play the presentation. The laptop-display is mirrored with a monitor on the stage, and the projector shows the full presentation
MacBook screen setup for mirrored display
With Macs you can set up the screen-configuration from the Displays settings in System Preferences. (Example below is from Mac OS Ventura)
One of the external displays can mirror the main display.
When you go to “arrange”, the stacked images shows which screens are mirrored.
In Powerpoint, make sure that presenter-view is enabled from the settings. Go to Slide Show from the preferences in the top menu bar.
Go to “Set up slide show” from the Slide Show tab above the edit-window. Select Monitor 2 or Auto as the Slide Show monitor.
You would assume that this would be enough to ensure that the presenter-screen is mirrored and the presentation shown on the external display. But, to our surprise, when we play the presentation, the presenter-view is no longer mirrored on the stage-monitor. Instead, only the desktop is shown:
In PC this works seamlessly. So why doesn’t it work in Mac? And can we solve it? Yes! After years of grey hair and frustration, I think I have finally found a way around this issue:
How to solve the problem – what works for me
- Identify what Powerpoint means by Monitor 2
First you must stop all mirroring on your MacBook. Have your internal display set up as the Main display, and the two connected displays as extended. You will then have 3 separate displays in the display settings
Now go to Powerpoint. In the Slide Show settings, go to Set up slide show. Set the Monitor to Monitor 2, or Automatic. (same as earlier before)
Then play the presentation, and take note of what is the screen where the presentation is displayed. In this example, Monitor 2 from Powerpoint is the stage monitor. This won’t work. (see next step)
2. Make sure that Monitor 2 in Powerpoint is routed to the display where you want to show the presentation
From step 1: If Monitor 2 is the display used to show the presentation to the audience, then you can proceed to step 3. If Monitor 2 is the stage-monitor that you want for presenter-view, then you need to swap the routing of two hdmi-outputs from your Macbook . If you send the hdmi-cables through a hardware switcher, then you can do this internally in the switcher. This would be my preferred way of action as it doesn’t involve any physical unplugging and patching. Also, the Macbook wouldn’t be aware of these changes, so you won’t change any internal mac-settings.
Routing the HDMI-outputs from the Macbook throug video switcher. Pictured is Roland v-1hd
After swapping HDMI cables from the MacBook, we change what is defined as Monitor 2 in Powerpoint
3. Turn on Mirrored screen
Now you can turn the mirror back on, with the stage monitor mirroring the internal display on the mac
We have identified that DAC70 is the stage-monitor, and we set that as mirrored display.
4. Check that the Monitor in Powerpoint is set to Automatic or Monitor 2
Now you are good to go: If you play the presentation, you will get the configuration with presenter view on the stage-monitor
Hurra, it finally works!
Equipment used for testing
To reach the conlusions above, I have tested with these Macs: – 15″ Macbook Pro 2015 – 14″ Macbook Pro 2021 – 15″ MacBook Pro 2018. OS: Monterey. Powerpoint-version: 16
Using this method with APS
Auto Presentation Switcher , gives you more ways to open, display and switch presentations. When opening presentations on Mac with APS, the monitor where the presentation is shown is taken from the Powerpoint settings. So you don’t need any additional preparation to use this method with APS.
Update 5. October 2022:
Since I wrote this text I have used the 3-screen Powerpoint Mac setup on several events. It hasn’t failed me so far. I feel more confident now than before that this article describes how you can use the 3 screen setup with Powerpoint for Mac. However, there is no guarantee that this solution will work for every Mac that has 3 screen outputs. It would be very interesting if more people could test this method, and share how it works for them.

How to Use Presenter Overlay and Reactions in macOS 14 Sonoma
The world of video conferencing has seen a monumental transformation with the advent of macOS 14 Sonoma. Gone are the days when virtual meetings felt distant and robotic. With features like Presenter Overlay and Reactions, macOS Sonoma has breathed new life into remote presentations and meetings. In this article, we’ll delve into how to use Presenter Overlay and Reactions in macOS 14 Sonoma.
What Macs Will Support Sonoma?
Before you get too excited, it’s essential to check if your Mac can support macOS 14 Sonoma . Generally, Macs older than five years may not be compatible. Ensure you check the compatibility list to see if your device can run the latest macOS.
How Do I Download Sonoma on My Mac?
For those who can’t wait to try out the new features, Apple offers early access to macOS 14 Sonoma through the developer beta version . However, since it’s an early release, there might be some bugs and issues. It is highly recommended to back up your data before upgrading. One common bug that you may experience after upgrading to macOS Sonoma is Steam crashing on startup .
How To Use Presenter Overlay in macOS Sonoma
macOS 14 Sonoma is Apple’s latest iteration of its famed operating system, and it comes loaded with features aimed at enhancing the user experience. A highlight of this version is the video conferencing enhancements that are designed to make remote presentations and meetings more engaging and immersive.
Presenter Overlay is an innovative feature that can transform the way you conduct remote presentations. This effect overlays your live video on top of the content you’re sharing, giving the illusion that you’re actually presenting in front of the screen, much like a newscaster.
Time needed: 1 minute
Keep in mind, macOS Sonoma is in developer beta; third-party app support may be limited for now.
This feature is not only innovative but also brings a personal touch to the presentation, as it allows your audience to see you in conjunction with the content being shared.
How To Use Reactions in macOS Sonoma
Another delightful feature of macOS Sonoma is Reactions. This feature enables users to express themselves in video calls by integrating cinematic-quality effects, such as balloons, confetti, and hearts into their video.
- Use hand gestures such as like (if set up), or click on the reaction to display it in your video.
macOS 14 Sonoma’s Presenter Overlay and Reactions are game-changing features that elevate the video conferencing experience. Whether you’re a professional giving a remote presentation or just catching up with friends, these features can make your calls more engaging and personal. However, don’t forget to check the compatibility of your Mac before diving into the new world of macOS 14 Sonoma. We also recommend that you check out how to share passwords through iCloud Keychain in macOS Sonoma .

How to use Presenter Overlay in macOS Sonoma
Presenter Overlay won't comb your hair, lose you weight, or dress you better.
Last updated 1 year ago
It's the most visually impressive new feature of macOS Sonoma, and if you ever do slide presentations online in your work, you're going to use Presenter Overlay from now on — if you can.
This was one of the few rather buggy features during the beta testing and, surprisingly, it's still not fully working correctly even now macOS Sonoma has been officially released.
Problem with Zoom and Keynote
Specifically, at time of writing there is a problem in the integration of Presenter Overlay with Zoom and Apple's Keynote. It's not a deal breaker since you can continue to show your presentation in Zoom=, but your can't be overlaid on it.
Instead, if you work through the steps below to start presenter overlay, Zoom will incorrectly report that Keynote is not installed.
One way around it is to export the Keynote to Microsoft PowerPoint, but conversions are rarely perfect. Plus, it requires you to have Microsoft PowerPoint.
So the better option is use the Zoom Share Screen control, which is a button in the app's bottom tool bar when you're in a call. Click on that, then make sure Basic is selected in the top row, and choose the first option, typically called Desktop 1 .
This is true screen sharing in that everything on your display will be shown on the call, so it's far from ideal, but it works.
The issue has been reported to Apple so it may be fixed very soon.
When it is, or when you're using other video conferencing apps that allow screen sharing — or you're using PowerPoint — then this feature is very good. In all other ways it's been improved since the beta, and is now working well, when it works.
Improvements
Presenter Overlay has been simplified since the initial beta tests so where you may have seen reports of having to choose between two options, there is now only one. Rather than having to select that your image will be in either a small or a large overlay, there is only the one choice — and you can drag to resize it to what you need.
This all works the same way on Zoom and FaceTime, but Zoom is more widely used for presentations, so to use the feature in that, these are the steps you need to take.
How to use the new Presenter Overlay in macOS Sonoma
- Start a call
- Click on either the menubar icon and if necessary, on the name of your video app, or
- Choose Share Screen from the Zoom menubar app
- On the Zoom dialogue, choose Advanced
- Double click on Slides as Virtual Background
- Navigate to your Keynote or PowerPoint document
- Click Share
From then on, your face and torso — depending on your position in the camera frame — will be shown on screen, but the background will be replaced by your slides. This is exactly and precisely the same as using a fake photo of a beach as your Zoom background.
And it has the same problems. When you move, it can take a moment for the Mac to recalculate your position and just exactly what bits of background it has to remove.
So there can be a fluttering around your body on screen, and especially around your hair.
There's nothing you can do about that, but there are other things you can control.
Changing the size and position of your Presenter Overlay
- On your Zoom screen, click on your face
- Drag to reposition yourself in the frame
- Or click on the drag handles around your image to resize
Then to get out of Presenter Overlay, you just choose Stop Sharing from the top of the screen.
That will remove the slides and restore the full image of you and your background.
