This is a rather unique writing assignment. In this assignment, each student will identify one thing about our society they would change if they could. Students will need to use their imagination, creativity and personal experiences for this two page assignment. It is acceptable to vent (just a little) in this assignment. In this assignment, students will editorialize about a particular aspect of our society; students should provide their thoughts and opinion about the area they chose. If references are used, students are to use proper citation, however, references are not required for this assignment, an abstract is not required and neither is a cover sheet. Students should ensure their name is on the paper.

Extra Credit--Tupac
In order to complete the extra credit assignment, please complete a 1- 2-page double- spaced paper applying at least 5-7 sociological concepts from the chapters and lectures on deviance, social stratification, and race to the Tupac Shakur song, “Changes.”
As you go to write the paper, consider the following questions:
- What is the overall message of Tupac’s song?
- Is this message still relevant today (20 years later), or has our society “changed” enough to argue that African Americans (and other minority groups) no longer face these same struggles? What has changed and what has not?
- Which of the theories and concepts we have covered on deviance can be applied to these lyrics?
- Which of the theories and concepts we have covered on social stratification can be applied to these lyrics?
Other Instructions: Not only should you discuss the meaning of the song, but also incorporate specific lyrics into the paper that illustrate your points. Reference citations are not required. To receive 5 extra points added to your score for the Final Exam, please submit the assignment to D2L by 11:59 pm on May 1st.
