Recruitment Process

The recruitment process at Medland Hospital starts with your online application. If you are shortlisted, you will be invited to participate in a screening & assessment process regarding your competencies and their fit with the position you have applied for. We evaluate the qualifications of each applicant according to the requirements of the job they are applying for, with the goal of finding the most suitable candidate for the advertised vacancy. In order to be able to reach a final decision, all input provided by the prospective candidates is thoroughly processed and evaluated: resume, cover letter, references, and interview outcomes.

When can I expect to receive feedback on my application?

We usually try to revert back to successful applicants within a 10 day time frame. However sometimes it might take us a little longer to respond due to the large number of applications we receive and have to process. University of Lusaka Hospital is seeking a dedicated and skilled medical team to join our Hospital on both Full time and Part time basis in the following fields.

Nursing Officer (Full-time)

Job Purpose

Coordinating daily administrative duties, including schedules, nursing assignments and patient care.

Responsibilities

• Directs, mentors, and schedules staff, including communicating job expectations and providing input to nursing supervisors on staff performance reviews.
• Collaborates with physicians and multidisciplinary professional staff to implement patient care.
• Provides physical and psychological support for patients, friends, and families.
• Meets nursing operational standards by contributing information to strategic plans and reviews; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; and identifying system improvements.
• Identifies patient service requirements by establishing a personal rapport with potential and actual patients and other persons in a position to understand service requirements.
• Maintains nursing guidelines by making sure that their direct reports adhere to staff policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Nursing.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
• 3-5 years’ experience as a staff nurse in a clinical setting, prior supervisory experience will be an added advantage.
• Licensed as a Registered Nurse
• Valid General Nursing Council of Zambia Practicing License.

• Ability to research and create new knowledge
• Should be a goal getter and a team player

Registered Nurses

Job Purpose

Providing compassionate and quality patient care, educating patients, administering medication and keeping patient records.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality and compassionate patient care in various hospital units.
• Administer medications, monitor vital signs, and provide treatments as prescribed.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care.
• Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
• Educate patients and their families about health conditions and treatment plans.
• Create nursing care plans to assess patient care needs and continued progress based on nursing diagnosis and within scope of practice.
• Participate in the morning ward rounds or weekly ground rounds.
• Assist the medical doctors during clinical procedures, as requested.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Nursing, registered and fully licensed to practice nursing in the appropriate jurisdiction.
• Must be a qualified ZRN/ZRM from a recognized institution.
• A current license to practice nursing in Zambia from the General Nursing Council of Zambia.
• Must have at least 3 – 5 years’ experience
