Short Summary [ ]

As Zoro recalls his past involving an old man he once knew, the clues from his memory help him realize the secret necessary to truly master Enma .

Long Summary [ ]

Zoro retrieves two of his swords and proceeds to attack King . The two engage in an intense exchange of blows. King launches his Barizodon attack. Zoro senses Enma nearby and immediately lunges to retrieve it. As Zoro grabs Enma, it immediately drains his Haki , emaciating his arm. King attacks him relentlessly and he barely manages to block the Lunarian’s slashes. Zoro falls and Enma continues to drain him.

Zoro recalls how he learned of the battle cry, “ Sunacchi ” and how Momonosuke was prohibited from uttering such cry. He explained to the young daimyo that he learned it from an old man from his village a long time ago. He remembers the old man who was always on the seacoast. He also recalls Hitetsu explaining that his two swords, Wado Ichimonji and Enma were both forged by the legendary swordsmith, Shimotsuki Kozuburo.

Zoro remembers events in a village in East Blue , thirteen years ago. A young Zoro was training with Kuina , his childhood friend, at the Isshin Dojo . Kuina easily disarmed him and knocked him down. Determined to best his rival, Zoro went to the coast to train. There he saw an old man looking towards the sea. Sensing that Zoro was a bit down, the old man taught him of the battle cry, “Sunacchi,” which, according to him, was a good-luck word to uplift one’s spirit. Zoro told him that he had no use for such a weird word, but asked the old man if he was a samurai , since everyone at the dojo said so. Instead of answering, the old man told Zoro to pay the gossip no mind. He then told the young boy that the Marines would be invading their village soon, but he refused to tell him why and told him to go home. Instead of going home, however, Zoro started training, while the old man watched on.

After Zoro explained why he was training hard, the old man offered to give Zoro two of his swords that he forged himself. He explained they were blunt so Zoro could use them for practice. The old man explained that swords were made to kill. Every sword had a personality and that it was a swordsman 's job to tame them. He went on to say that a “cursed sword” is a fine sword and was simply called as such because the weak feared it. The old man recalled a sword that he forged when he was younger. He deemed it the greatest piece that he crafted in his life. Just by holding it, the blade would give the bearer chills, thus he dubbed it “the great king of hell.” Remembering all these, Zoro realizes that the aforementioned sword―the great king of hell―was none other than Enma.

Outside, Momonosuke accidentally grasps Kaidou 's Flame Clouds . He realizes that since he is also a dragon , he can also control and manipulate the clouds. He proceeds to try and divert Onigashima’s path.

Meanwhile, Zoro pieces together the clues to the history of his village. It was not a coincidence that the village was named Shimotsuki . Hitetsu mentioned that Shimotsuki Kouzaburou, had left Wano more than fifty years ago. With all this information and his memories, Zoro deduces that the old man and Kouzaburou are one and the same. He remembers Kouzaburou explaining that it is the sword that chooses its wielder. With that, Zoro understood that Enma chose him and was simply testing him.

He recalls one night when he was younger and had challenged Kuina to their 2001st duel, all of which were won by the latter. Zoro cried in frustration, but Kuina told him that it is she who should be frustrated. Her father had told her that as a girl, she could never surpass a man as a swordsman. She envied Zoro for being a boy, since she, too, wanted to become the world’s greatest. Hearing Kuina utter those words angered Zoro since he was aiming to surpass her and saying that was insulting all the hard training he was doing. With this, the two made a pact to become the world’s greatest swordsman. The following day, Kuina died after falling down a flight of stairs. Distraught, Zoro begged Kuina’s father to give him Kuina’s sword, also promising to be so strong that his name reached her in heaven.

Back to the present, Zoro realizes that Enma was not draining him out of malice and admits that he was simply lacking thus unable to withstand the sword unlike Oden who had been using it with ease even though the sword took away so much of his Haki. Zoro tries to figure out how to control the flow of his Haki and keep it from being depleted and ultimately causing his death. Rather than fighting the sword's effects, he decides to let Enma take his Haki instead and “conquers” it, unleashing his Supreme King Haki and rendering the nearby Beast Pirates unconscious. King notices and asks if he was trying to be a king. Zoro answers by saying that he just remembered his promise to Luffy and Kuina.

10 Times History Repeated Itself in One Piece

Why oda's final one piece reveal is bound to disappoint fans, 10 classic one piece arcs that never get old.

WARNING: The following contains spoilers for One Piece Chapter 1033, "Shimotsuki Kozaburo," by Eiichiro Oda, Stephen Paul, and Vanessa Satone, available in English from Viz Media .

One Piece 's last chapter showed that the developing fight between Roronoa Zoro and King the Wildfire has not been in the swordsman's favor. Worst yet, out of nowhere, Zoro's sword, Enma, is suddenly engulfed in flames without warning. Zoro's in a tough spot, but chapter #1033 reveals an enlightening flashback from the swordsman's humble beginnings.

Returning to Zoro, the swordsman is using his armament haki to try and quell the flames of Enma's rebellious spirit. It seems the sword has yet to recognize Zoro as its true master , yet. This isn't the first time this has happened, as the cursed sword Zoro received from a swordsmith in Logue Town, Kitetsu III, had a mind of its own as well.

Zoro and King continue to trade blows, but the black-clad Lunarian seems completely unfazed by Zoro's attacks. When Zoro tries to go in for another attack, Enma goes wild once again, allowing for King to strike at the swordsman unabated. The attack causes him to lose his grip on Kitetsu III, but Zoro doesn't hesitate to jump off the side of the cliff to save his sword. King berates the pirate for risking his life for just a blade and knocks him back into the side of Onigashima.

One Piece Child Zoro Sword

Zoro is relieved to see his oldest sword, Wado Ichimonji, remained on the cliff's edge, waiting for him. This reminds him of the promise he made to his sensei after Kuina died, that he would use her sword to become the greatest swordsman who ever lived. It's then that Zoro is reminded from a conversation with the tengu, Hitesu, hearing that both Wado Ichimonji and Enma were crafted by the same blacksmith: Shimotsuki Kozaburo. He was a man who broke the law and was exiled from Wano over 50 years ago.

Memories come flooding back of his childhood days in Shimotsuki Village in the East Blue . An old man used to always sit by the coast's edge, who was actually Kuina's grandfather, although Zoro didn't know that at the time. Old Man Kozaburo told Zoro about a magic word, Sunacchi, used to summon strength. The young Zoro doesn't seem to take the old blacksmith's words seriously and is only curious if such a geezer truly used to be a samurai just as the rumors at the dojo say.

When Kozaburo watches Zoro training to beat Kuina, the old blacksmith gifts him with him two swords. He gives Zoro some words of wisdom, reminding him that a sword is a tool for murder, and he should never neglect that fact. Swords have personality and a good swordsman should learn that about their sword but must be able to bend the sword to their will, as well.

Kozaburo also doesn't believe any sword is truly cursed, only that weak people who can't handle a quality sword call them cursed. He's reminded of his masterpiece, the greatest sword he ever made, gifted the name of the king who watches hell, Enma. Zoro sees that Enma has been testing him and so with newfound resolve, he takes the sword in hand. As a group of Beast Pirates arrived on the scene, Zoro unknowingly releases his Conqueror's Haki, knocking them out.

One Piece Zoro smirk

The swordsman stands defiantly as he faces King, and so the Lumarian asks "So...you intend to be a king then?"   Another memory comes flooding back to Zoro; of when he first met Luffy, and with a cheeky smile, he replies back "That's right...I've got a promise to keep to my captain and my best friend!"

While certainly not the most tragic or rich backstory among the crew, Zoro's beginnings are simple to understand and melancholic , so it's nice to finally see more of the swordsman's past expanded upon. Having his hometown be indirectly connected to Wano is a great touch, and this chapter ends on a very sweet moment. As much of a tough guy Zoro is, he doesn't hesitate to call Luffy his "best friend" which is very fitting.

Zoro’s Enma vs. Tanjiro’s Nichirin Blade: Which is the Most Powerful Sword?

Zoro’s Enma vs. Tanjiro’s Nichirin Blade: Which is the Most Powerful Sword?

  • by: Caleb Hester
  • September 2024

When comparing Zoro’s Enma from One Piece and Tanjiro Kamado’s Nichirin Blade from Demon Slayer , we are looking at two iconic swords with distinct abilities and significance. Both weapons showcase different power systems and play crucial roles in their respective universes. Let's break down their strengths and determine which one stands out as the most powerful.

Zoro's Enma: The Legendary Blade

Zoro’s Enma is one of the 21 Great Grade Swords (Ō Wazamono) and is renowned for its immense power. It was originally wielded by Kozuki Oden, a legendary samurai who left a permanent scar on Kaido, one of the Four Emperors in One Piece . After Oden’s death, Zoro acquires this fearsome blade.

Haki Consumption

Enma is unique for its ability to draw out massive amounts of the wielder's Haki (spiritual energy) uncontrollably. Only the strongest swordsmen can handle this trait without being overwhelmed. Zoro, despite being a master swordsman, struggles with controlling his power at first. However, once mastered, the sword enables its wielder to unleash devastating Haki-imbued attacks.

Connection to Oden

Enma’s history is steeped in legend as it was wielded by Kozuki Oden, who used it to wound Kaido, an enemy known for his near-impenetrable scales. This connection boosts the sword's prestige, as it has already proven capable of cutting through some of the toughest defenses in the One Piece world.

Advanced Armament Haki

Enma pushes Zoro’s Haki control to the limit, helping him to develop advanced Armament Haki techniques. This skill allows him to bypass even the strongest physical defenses, making the sword capable of cutting through nearly anything.

Tanjiro's Nichirin Blade: The Demon Slayer's Weapon

Tanjiro Kamado’s Nichirin Blade is a specialized weapon forged for the Demon Slayer Corps to kill demons. It is made from Scarlet Crimson Iron Sand and Scarlet Ore, materials that absorb sunlight—the only element that can truly kill demons.

Sunlight Absorption

The Nichirin Blade’s unique property is its ability to absorb sunlight, which is crucial in killing demons. Demons can only be destroyed by sunlight or decapitation with a Nichiren Blade, making it indispensable in Demon Slayer . Without this property, Tanjiro would be unable to effectively combat the demons’ regenerative abilities.

Color-Changing Blade

Tanjiro’s blade turns black, a rare color thought to symbolize mystery and an unknown future. Despite the initial fear surrounding black blades, Tanjiro’s mastery of Sun Breathing elevates the sword’s potential, making it one of the most powerful tools for fighting demons.

Breathing Techniques

Tanjiro’s Nichirin Blade becomes exponentially stronger with his mastery of Breathing Techniques, especially Sun Breathing, one of the most powerful swordsmanship styles. These techniques enhance his physical abilities, such as speed and strength, allowing him to perform incredible feats with the blade.

Demon Slayer Mark

Tanjiro also unlocks the Demon Slayer Mark, a special ability that greatly amplifies his combat power. This mark increases his physical capabilities, enabling him to fight even the strongest demons like the Upper Moons and Muzan Kibutsuji, the Demon King.

Enma vs. Nichirin Blade: Head-to-Head Comparison

Power and destructive potential, enma’s strength.

Enma is a blade of overwhelming destructive power, particularly because it draws out massive amounts of Haki. In the hands of someone as skilled as Zoro, it can cut through almost any material, including Kaido’s nearly indestructible dragon scales. This incredible cutting power gives Enma the edge when it comes to raw strength and versatility.

Nichirin Blade’s Strength

The Nichirin Blade’s primary strength lies in its ability to kill demons. Its sunlight absorption is the key to nullifying demons' regenerative abilities, making it a crucial weapon in the world of Demon Slayer . When paired with Tanjiro’s mastery of Sun Breathing and his Demon Slayer Mark, the blade becomes an incredibly potent tool for defeating even the strongest demons.

Skill and Mastery

Zoro’s mastery of enma.

Zoro’s skill with Enma is still developing, but even in its early stages, the sword forces him to hone his Haki abilities. Enma challenges Zoro, pushing him to become stronger with each swing. Once fully mastered, Zoro will be able to unleash attacks of unimaginable power.

Tanjiro’s Mastery of the Nichirin Blade

Tanjiro’s mastery of the Nichirin Blade is tied to his proficiency with Breathing Techniques. His use of Sun Breathing elevates the sword's capabilities, allowing him to perform highly specialized and powerful attacks. Combined with the Demon Slayer Mark, Tanjiro’s blade becomes a deadly weapon capable of taking on the most powerful enemies in his world.

Specialized Purpose

Enma’s purpose.

Enma is a weapon of destruction, designed to push its wielder to new heights by drawing out their Haki. Its primary strength lies in its ability to cut through nearly anything, making it one of the most versatile and dangerous swords in One Piece . It is a tool for Zoro’s growth and a weapon capable of overcoming the strongest opponents.

Nichirin Blade’s Purpose

The Nichirin Blade is specialized for killing demons. Its ability to absorb sunlight makes it uniquely effective against the supernatural creatures of Demon Slayer . While it may not have the same versatility as Enma, it is an irreplaceable tool in the fight against demons, especially when combined with Tanjiro’s advanced techniques.

Final Verdict: Enma Takes the Lead

While both swords are incredibly powerful, Zoro’s Enma edges out Tanjiro’s Nichirin Blade in terms of sheer destructive potential. Enma’s ability to draw out vast amounts of Haki and cut through nearly any material makes it more versatile and deadly. Additionally, the fact that it forces Zoro to grow stronger further cements its status as the more powerful weapon.

However, Tanjiro’s Nichirin Blade excels in its specialized role. In the world of Demon Slayer , it is the only weapon capable of killing demons, and its synergy with Tanjiro’s Breathing Techniques makes it indispensable. Despite this, the Nichirin Blade’s effectiveness is limited to a specific type of enemy, while Enma's power transcends its environment, giving it the upper hand.

In the battle between Zoro’s Enma and Tanjiro’s Nichirin Blade, Enma emerges as the more powerful sword. Its unparalleled destructive capabilities, its ability to grow alongside its user, and its legendary status make it a weapon that few can match. While Tanjiro’s Nichirin Blade is unmatched in its effectiveness against demons, Enma’s versatility and sheer power make it the superior sword overall.

  • The Straw Hat Pirates faced their toughest challenges in the Wano Country arc, with each member having to improve and create new techniques to defeat their opponents.
  • Zoro received the legendary sword Enma in exchange for his previous sword, Shusui. However, he initially struggled to control Enma's power and was at a disadvantage in battles.
  • Although Zoro managed to temporarily tame Enma during his fight with King, he has not fully mastered the sword yet. However, he has time to continue training and bring the sword under his complete control, which will greatly enhance his stamina and strength.

One Piece anime is nearing the end of the Wano Country arc. It has been an incredible journey for the Straw Hats, who have grown both mentally and physically. At the beginning of the arc, they were far from being a crew that could challenge a Yonko. But they kept pushing and persevered through the many adversities. In the Wano Country arc, the Straw Hat Pirates faced their toughest challenges to date.

All the members had to improve and create something new to take down their opponents. Luffy developed Gear 5th, Sanji created Ifrit Jambe, and Robin created a technique with the help of Fish-Man Karate. Even the mighty Roronoa Zoro needed some help to take down King, the strongest All-Star of the Beasts Pirates . The Straw Hat Pirate was knowledgeable about Haki, but he needed much more to make a difference in Wano.

The New Weapon

roronoa zoro wielding enma in battle one piece

Roronoa Zoro arrived in Wano with three swords: Wado Ichimonji, Shusui, and Sandai Kitetsu. Out of the three, Shusui was the one that drew the most attention. The sword belonged to Shimotsuki Ryuma, one of the greatest swordsmen of all time. After his death, the sword was buried with him in Wano. But Moria robbed the grave containing the corpse and the sword. The Shichibukai used his Kage Kage no Mi to attach Brook's shadow to Ryuma's body. The zombie used Shusui to beat Brook, leaving the latter to roam the waters without a shadow.

Things changed when Zoro went to the Thriller Bark with the rest of the Straw Hats. He faced Ryuma's corpse and managed to overwhelm him. Ryuma realized that he had been bested, so he gave away Shusui as a sign of respect. Zoro was more than happy to accept the sword. He continued to travel with Shusui until he reached Wano, where he was hounded by the locals. They could not tolerate that their national treasure was in the hands of a stranger.

Zoro managed to fend off all attempts to take Shusui from him . As the arc progressed, Hiyori offered Enma to Zoro in exchange for Shusui. Enma was wielded by the legendary Kozuki Oden, so Zoro had massive shoes to fill. The Straw Hat accepted the exchange and received Enma as his new blade.

Early Problems

zoro picks up enma one piece

When Zoro initially wielded Enma, he could not get it under control. He was unable to figure out how to control the sword's power. Despite the confusion, Zoro used the sword to fight Kaido and then King. Against Kaido, Zoro showed off some impressive strength, which was Enma's doing. This caused his stamina to drain quickly, leaving him incapacitated. He needed Miyagi's miracle drug to recover and get back on his feet.

When Zoro went toe-to-toe with King, Enma caused the former all sorts of problems. Zoro was unable to maintain his composure or manage the flow of Haki. King took full advantage of Zoro's shortcomings, so things became increasingly bad for the hero. King's impenetrable defense, along with Enma's wild nature, left Zoro with his back against the wall.

Mastering The Blade?

Zoro channeling his Haki

In the middle of the fight with King, Zoro started to remember his past and how he met Shimotsuki Kozaburo. This gave him the inspiration to overcome the problematic Enma and tame it temporarily. Zoro channeled his Haki with more freedom, allowing him to cut through King's ultimate attack. With the All-Star's defeat, Zoro could finally relax. However, this left a lot of questions in the fans' minds. The biggest of which was whether Zoro had mastered Enma or not.

The short answer is no. Zoro has not subdued the blade completely. He has better control over it, but Enma is not fully under his command. This is hardly surprising, considering that it is not an ordinary sword. Kozuki Oden wielded Enma and Ame no Hibakiri and used them to give Kaido a massive scar across his torso.

The good thing is that Zoro has plenty of time to master Enma. The Final Saga of One Piece is about to begin, and there will be many more enemies that Zoro will have to face. These challenges will provide Zoro with the conditions needed to bring the sword under his control.

How It Will Affect Him

roronoa zoro with enma

By gaining full control over Enma, Zoro will be able to avoid the unnecessary loss of stamina. He also won't have to fear that his Haki might be drained every time he wields the sword. Both of these things will enable him to fight for prolonged periods without any problems.

Furthermore, imbuing Enma with Haki over and over again will allow Zoro to increase its grade. At the moment, the sword falls into the O-Wazamono category. If Zoro blackens it, Enma will become a Saijo O-Wazamono grade sword . This will make it one of the best blades in the entire world. Doing so will increase Zoro's strength and bring him one step closer to becoming the greatest swordsman in the world.

One Piece: Does Enma give Zoro Oden's Haki? How the sword works, explained

follow icon

One of the most beloved aspects of Roronoa Zoro’s character in author and illustrator Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece manga is the relationship he has with his various swords throughout the story. Despite having an ever-changing trio of blades throughout the series, it’s clear that Zoro has a deep connection with and reverence for each and every one of his swords.

However, arguably the most beloved of any of Zoro’s swords by fans is Enma, the sword he inherited from the late One Piece character Kozuki Oden during the Wano arc. More specifically, Zoro traded his Shusui sword to Kozuki Hiyori so it could be returned to Shimotsuki Ryuma’s gravesite, and was given Enma (which Hiyori inherited directly from her father) in exchange.

Likewise, it’s the newest of Zoro’s swords in One Piece , meaning it’s also the blade which fans are most focused on as the series progresses through the fledgling stages of its Final Saga. However, there’s also some confusion regarding how the sword works, especially as it relates to the way in which it interacts with the Haki of its user.

also-read-trending

One Piece’s Enma sword doesn’t transfer Oden’s Haki to Zoro, but forcibly draws out all of each user’s Haki

How the sword works, explained.

More specifically, some One Piece fans are under the impression that Enma gives Zoro Oden’s Haki, which is implicitly stored within the blade in this context. Much of the reason why fans are under this impression stems from Zoro’s fight against Kaido . Here, Kaido recognizes the “strange Haki” as Oden’s presence, even going as far as to see Oden in the attacking Zoro.

While it’s understandable that this would cause fans to assume Enma gives Zoro some of Oden’s Haki, that is extremely far from the case given what fans currently know. Likewise, Kaido’s comparison likely stems from the intensity and amount of Haki which Zoro was exuding with Enma in hand, which would be comparable to Oden’s due to his also using Enma when fighting Kaido.

As far as One Piece fans know, Enma’s signature ability is not to steal and store the Haki of its various users, but to draw out 100% of the Armament Haki of its current wielder when they use the sword. As Zoro realized during his fight with King, Enma does this in order to test its owner and how suitable they are to wield the sword. This is due to the monstrous personality Enma has, which its creator Shimotsuki Kozaburo told a young Zoro about in Shimotsuki Village.

With no other mention of Enma’s abilities beyond this as far as the current manga is concerned, it seems that fans are mistaken on Enma giving Zoro Oden’s Haki. Instead, the similarities which Kaido implicitly posed during his fight with Zoro stem from the intensity and amount of Haki, as well as the overall strength of the sword’s user.

This is further supported by words from Kozuki Sukiyaki during One Piece’s Wano arc . The father of Oden speculates that one reason why Hiyori chose to give Enma to Zoro is due to his superior strength and sword skills reminiscent of her father’s. Once again, this further suggests that the connections made between Zoro and Oden by Kaido stem from their individual skills and strengths, rather than Zoro being given Oden’s Haki by Enma.

Be sure to keep up with all One Piece anime, manga , film, and live-action news as 2024 progresses.

Even though Monkey D. Luffy doesn't officially have a vice-captain, two crew members are often referred to as "The Wings of Luffy." Roronoa Zoro serves as one of these wings, and he is striving to become the greatest swordsman in the One Piece anime series. To realize his dream, he must defeat Dracule Mihawk, the strongest swordsman in One Piece .

Dracule Mihawk wields the All Black or Yoru Sword, considered the most formidable blade and cementing his reputation as the best of the best. However, in addition to Yoru, there are other impressive swords in the world of One Piece , and Zoro has managed to acquire some , proving his worth as a warrior and marking another achievement in his journey to becoming a great swordsman. And while each of these blades has something to offer, a few of Zoro's swords in One Piece are superior.

Monkey D. Luffy sets off on an adventure with his pirate crew in hopes of finding the greatest treasure ever, known as the "One Piece."

7 Dual Katana

First appearance: romance dawn arc.

Zoro using Dual Katana against several Marines in One Piece

Zoro's initial swords were a pair of katanas, which might've been ordinary in the hands of any other swordsman; however, in Zoro's hands, they were deadly weapons waiting to strike. Dual Katana was part of Zoro's three sword styles until Dracule Mihawk shattered them in battle . Although these blades were unnamed katanas and did not withstand attacks from Mihawk, their quality could not be overlooked, given Zoro's outstanding knowledge of swords.

The destruction of the Dual Katana came along with Zoro's first defeat. It was at this moment that Zoro promised Luffy to remain unbeaten, and he still stands by his words. Dual Katanas paved the way for Zoro, teaching him how to fight and accompanying him during his early days with Luffy, including some of the best episodes in One Piece .

6 Sandai Kitetsu

First appearance: loguetown arc.

Zoro experimenting with Cused Sandai Kitetsu Sword in One Piece

Chronologically, Sandai Kitetsu is the third katana Zoro acquired in One Piece . After the wreck of his Dual Katana, Zoro came across Sandai Kitetsu in Loguetown. Sandai Kitetsu is a superior-quality sword minted by Kozuki Sukiyaki , the father of Kozuki Oden.

Sandai Kitetsu shares the descent of the cursed swords of the Kitetsu family. Despite being a cursed sword, Sandai Kitetsu did not deter Zoro. However, there were some instances where Sandai disobeyed Roronoa by acting unpredictably, thus affecting his battling prowess. Eventually, as expected, Sandai Kitetsu accepted Zoro as its new master, owing to his strong willpower and physique. Unfortunately, it is the weakest sword that Zoro currently has.

5 Wado Ichimonji

Roronoa Zoro wielding the sword Wado Ichimonji with his teeth in One Piece.

Wado Ichimonji was entrusted to Zoro by Koshiro, his first mentor. After the mysterious death of Shimotsuki Kuina, Zoro's childhood rival and friend, he resolved to surpass every swordsman in the world as a way of honoring her, accepting Wado Ichimonji. Zoro's admiration for Kuina and his grief for her death, coupled with his perseverance to defeat her, made him develop the Three-sword Style - a Sword style using three katana: two in the hands and one in the mouth.

Despite being Zoro's first sword, Wado Ichimonji must not be underestimated , as it was crafted by the legendary Shimotzuki Kozaburo, who also forged the mighty Enma. Zoro still handles the esteemed katana, whose endurance in the famous One Piece fight against Dracule Mihawk demonstrates its remarkable vitality. Moreover, Wado Ichimonji holds great emotional value for Zoro , and it's unlikely to be left behind.

4 Nakiri Swords

First appearance: arlong park arc.

Johhny and Osaku wielding the Nakiri Swords in One Piece

In a clash against the officers of Captain Kuro - Nyaban Brothers (Buchi and Sham) - it became painfully clear that one-sword fighting wasn't Zoro's way. During the Arlong Park Arc, Zoro was exposed to fighting exponentially tough adversaries, meaning he needed to be in top shape. Therefore, after losing his dual katanas, Zoro found replacements and borrowed Nakiri Blades from Johhny and Osaku to confront Hachi, a swordsman of the Arlong Pirates. Johhny and Osaku were friends of the former bounty hunter Zoro.

Apart from Kamaza's Scythe, Nakiri swords are among the few swords that Zoro borrowed and returned after the battle . The battle against Hachi was still tough, as Zoro was already suffering wounds from Hawkeye. However, he eventually won.

3 Yubashiri

Ipponmatsu examining the large sword Yubashiri in One Piece

Even though the Blade Yubashiri is considered the family heirloom of Ipponmatsu - the owner of the shop in Loguetown - the sword was handed over to Zoro. Zoro himself acknowledged the superior strength of Yubashiri to Sandai Kitetsu. Unfortunately, during the Ennies Lobby Arc, Yubashiri was corroded by a captain of marines who manifested the powers of Rust-Rust or Sabi Sabi no Mi, a dangerous evil fruit in One Piece . The wielder of the Sabi Sabi no Mi devil fruit can disintegrate any metal substance it touches.

Zoro had great admiration for Yubashiri, and he even paid tribute to this blade during Thriller Bark Arc. However, One Piece is very much a parade of swords, meaning the decline of Yubashiri made way for yet another formidable sword .

First Appearance: Thriller Bark Arc

Zoro attacking with the sword Shusui in One Piece

Gecko Moria was one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea who stole the corpse of the legendary Ryuma, a samurai from the Land of Wano and Zoro's ancestor. Ryuma was converted into a zombie by Gecko Moria's Kage Kage no Mi devil fruit, and, in the Thriller Bark Arc, Zoro confronted the zombie Ryuma. After indulging in combat with Zoro, Ryuma was impressed with Zoro's judgment and gave him the legendary sword Shusui. The Shusui is an extraordinary katana, ranking among the 21 greatest swords of all time . Nonetheless, Zoro decided to replace Shusui with Enma.

Even though Sandai Kitetsu has been with Zoro for a long time, some fan theories say Zoro might substitute it and take Shusui again. Given the fact that Shusui is a Black Sword, continuously coated with the mystical One Piece magic of Haki , the theory makes sense. In addition, the blood relation of Ryuma with Zoro adds strength to this claim, adding a layer of complexity to Zoro's sword choices.

First Appearance: Wano Country Arc

Roronoa Zoro smiles confidently while using his sword Enma in One Piece

After the death of Kozuki Oden, Enma was inherited by his daughter, Kozuki Hiyori. To preserve the Wano treasure Shusui on the Land of Wano, she offered Enma to Zoro in exchange. Enma is the most powerful sword that Zoro ever wielded and the only known blade to ever injure Kaido , former Emperor of the Sea.

Enma features a unique ability to draw Haki from the user's body to enhance its strength. Not everything is perfect, though; just like the Sandai Kitetsu, there were instances when Enma disregarded Zoro. He used this sword to confront Kaido and was able to put a permanent scar on the Emperor of the Sea's body. It was Enma's attacks combined with the other two swords that defeated King. Despite the given triumphs, the temperamental Enma has not fully given into Zoro's commands, meaning he has not yet mastered its true potential.

Secondly, when Zoro finally masters Enma with the fight against king it turns green to me this means that Zoro is now the one controlling Enma and not Enma controlling zoros haki. That's why all three swords glow green because enma is no longer in control of zoros haki rather Zoro is in control of Enma giving his distinct color/flair on the haki.

Hiyori takes Zoro to find Enma, only for King to swing in and snatch it up. So Zoro fights King for Enma at Onigashima, making the scene with the Grim Reaper represent his ultimate test to conquer Enma. King couldn't conquer Enma, but Zoro does, and that's why he earns the right not only to wield Enma, but claim himself as the King of Hell.

If Enma carried Zoro on the roof, then why didn't any of the Red scabbards just use that to defeat Kaido. Your argument is like saying, gum gum fruit carried Luffy, Dragon fruit carried Kaido, and soul-soul fruit carried Big Mom into their respective positions. Its pointless to try to downplay Zoro's role.
